Mid-Year Reset for Student Success

A mid-year reset for student success is a powerful opportunity to re-establish expectations, reinforce positive behavior, and set students up for continued growth. As the school year reaches its midpoint, it’s normal for routines, energy, and focus to drift. Using CW-FIT strategies, even small, intentional adjustments can make a big impact

Reset Expectations with Students

Mid-year is the perfect time to revisit classroom expectations

  • Review expectations explicitly and model what they look like in action
  • Practice routines together and provide clear examples
  • Use positive language to remind students what success looks like

Re-teaching expectations helps students refocus and feel supported, especially after long breaks or schedule changes.

Reinforce what’s working

Students have already made meaningful progress this year—make sure they know it.

  • Highlight growth, not just outcomes
  • Provide specific praise aligned to classroom expectations

Recognizing progress reinforces positive behavior and keeps motivation strong during the second half of the year.

 Refresh Rewards

What motivated students in the fall may need a refresh.

  • Invite students to help choose or update rewards
  • Rotate new incentives to maintain interest
  • Ensure rewards remain achievable and meaningful

Refreshing rewards strengthens student buy-in and keeps CW-FIT practices engaging and effective.
